Ok, so I've never really shopped for regular tires.  I'm looking for a set of tires for my wifes Saturn.  What do you peoples recommend?

Well, regular tires are complicated - practical goals might have to be considered!  What are you goals?  Cheap?  Ride quality?  Noise?  Wear?  Dry/Wet/Snow performance?

Continental ContiExtremeContacts are a good all-around tire, and they aren't expensive.  Don't know if they have the right size for your Saturn though.

The Contis are not a bad choice. I would also recommend Pirelli's "4-Season" tire or Falken's Ziex ZE-912 ( vulcantire.com ).

Old reliable for me is the  BFG Traction T/A.  Great for small to midsize cars, good 4 season traction, great wear, and long life.  I was recently in the market for our Sunfire and ran across a new tire by Eagle, the Eagle GT.  Seems to behave similar to the Traction T/A, but the "look" is very different.  The Traction T/A has the plain bubbled out sidewall and typical tread pattern.  Eagle GT has a flat sidewall that looks more like a race tire and has an aggressive tread pattern.  I actually like the look of the Traction T/A's better on the Sunfire.. but maybe just because I'm used to it for so many years.

BFG Traction T/A : Classic style and tread pattern

Eagle GT: Race-inspired style and tread pattern

I've always had good luck with Ziex 512s, if they are still available

Yeah the Traction T/As that came OEM on our Outback Sport lasted over 60k miles   It was kind of scary in the snow on them after about 40k miles though, as you'd expect...

I've been happy with the Sumitomo HTR+.  Between all the vehicles we own, it seems like we've gone through 2 or 3 sets (we seem to have tire ADD when it comes to all seasons but we keep coming back to these for daily driver duty).  Good all seasons that are cheap (important since I usually go through a set per year/year and a half, maybe 30-35k miles per set for me), decent on ice and snow, decent in rain, OK for all seasons on dry pavement.
