So, I noticed last week that my tags (or most of them) had been stolen. Not good timing with the rally coming up but I figured I could just show proof that my plates are still good and get some new ones for a nominal fee, with the DOR/DMV keeping track to make sure I wasn't doing this every week. Ah, naivety. As I figured, I have to present evidence that my car is legal and had plates. I have to file a police report. Then I have to obtain a copy of said police report. Then I have to fill out a form, which they don't even bother to have online to remove one trip in the process, which basically says that I'm saying my plates were stolen (the police report doesn't cut it, I suppose). But the best part, I have to get it notarized. Sweet. Not only do I get to be a victim of crime, I get to be a victim of beaurocarcy and forced to break the law by driving all over to take care of this nonsense. [:@]

You're car pretty much flies under the radar anyway. Why bother registering it? [;)]

Well, things went better than expected. Luckily the people at the DMV don't know what their website says [:)] It still took a couple of hours, but the police report was pretty quick and painless and that combined with my receipt from when I got the tags plus $3.50 was enough to get new shiney tags on the car.
