Time for a new F1 thread.
The old thread was locked and moved to deleted (but the search function still finds it).

Adrian Newey and Coulthard on the Ferrari payroll for 2006.

Go Kimi.

I think I read somewhere that Super Aguri was using the '02 Arrows chassis?  How would you handle getting beat by a team with a 4 year old chassis that didn't exist (the team, that is) 4 months ago?

Well, I'd be surprised if they get a whole lot of points this year. Besides, Yuri Ide (their #2 driver) wants to be like Sato... *shakes head*

Two Satos on the track in 2006?

07/03/06
Bad news for Super Aguri's repair bill: they look set to have not one crashaholic, but two, on the payroll this season as Yuji Ide plans to "imitate" his team-mate Takuma Sato.

Ide, who'll make his F1 debut at this weekend's Bahrain Grand Prix with the new Super Aguri outfit, has minimal F1 experience behind him and is therefore looking for a mentor to guide him.

And rather surprisingly - and perhaps erroneously - he's chosen his team-mate Takuma Sato to fill that role.

Yes, the same Takuma Sato who has one podium finish in 51 race starts, amassed a whole one point in 2005 and is more well known for his accidents than his brilliance.

"I like the way Takuma races in the grands prix, so I'll try to imitate him," Ide rather worryingly told the Gazetta dello Sport newspaper.

Go Big Red!

That being said, the new cars are crazy with all the wings, etc:

yeah, I don't think anyone has to worry about being beat by SA just yet [;)]

I'm looking forward to Ferrari regaining the championship this year [:D]

If they can't do it, it would be nice to see Kimi win the driver's championship and Toyota or Honda the team's.

I'm not giving up on Sato yet. He had a bad year and everyone is writing him off. I'm hoping that Aguri is not last and Sato scores a fee points. I still remember his drive in the '04 USGP...the guy is talented. Plus I think his tendency to crash is exagerated.

I'll be rooting for Ferrari, Honda and SA.

What a beautiful car! Ferrari will gain the championship again this year, I can feel it. Unfortunately we will be in Memphis this weekend racing and unable to catch the race.

WOOT!!!

Ferrari front row, with Button 3rd, Alonso 4th, Montoya 5th.  Toyota slow.  Kimi didn't get a lap because his suspension failed and had a big shunt.

Looking to be a good year!

Wasn't to sure about the v8 thing at first but man! The speed is going to be there real soon this year it looks by the times the have in just the first qualifying. Glad to see the tire changing is back. This is the qualifying they should have had last year.
I've been a big Shumey fan but quietly rooting for Rubens. Go BAR! Oh...wait.. go Honda!

Kimi's suspension didn't fail. He lost his rear wing [:(]

Kimi's suspension failed when a metal rod end became unbonded from the carbon fiber control arm.  The wing failure was collateral damage.

I say it was a good race to watch.  Ferrari is back on the pace it seems [:D] and I thought Nico was very impressive to watch.

Pretty good race. Who knows how the results would've changed had Kimi started at a better position than dead last. If his car stays in one piece next time, he'll give Alonso a run for his money, again! Schumi and Ferrari appear to be back.  Button finished solidly, though he seems to take awhile to get hot when the race starts. Nico Rosberg was very impressive. Scott Speed ran respectable in his debut. Toyota sucked yet again...right, Jeff S? [:P] Super Aguri was expected to be bad, but they ran REALLY bad.

and only two more days til the next one.  Remember if you're watching it's on at midnight.  It seems as if the B'stones are like what Michelin was 2-3 yrs ago, in that they are taking several laps to get up to temp and performance.  Michelins are supposedly faster right off, but Bridgestones are faster after 4-5 laps.  Could Kimi be any more monotone in his interviews?

I give credit to SA for actually finishing!

Button apparently had clutch problems and the slower Renault and McLaren both had engine mapping issues that put them down on power compared to the lead cars [8-)]  No excuses for Toyota though [:p]

it is nice to see (well, read about in my case) Ferrari being back on the pace and only losing due to pit stops.  Should be a great year!

What a drive by Kimi, 22nd to 3rd It looks like this is going to be a good season with McLaren, Honda, Ferrari and the frogs battling it out up front. and I hearby put my cheer in for McLaren and Kimi for the championship
Oversteer is when you hit the wall with the back of the car, understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car, horsepower is how fast you hit the wall, torque is how far you take it with you.

Ha, toyota has you all fooled. Given the money invested, they are obviously the best and the fastest... they're just sandbagging as to not make all the other teams upset.  [:)]
