Saw this obit in our local paper (The Southern Illinoisan)...learned alot about Carl. Carl J. Hoffman
PINCKNEYVILLE -- Carl J. Hoffman, 80, died at 11:17 p.m. on Thursday, June 10, 2004, in the Pinckneyville Community Hospital Skilled Care Unit.Mr. Hoffman was born on April 15, 1924, in Pinckneyville, a son of Joseph H. and Theresa A. (Flure) Hoffman.He was united in marriage to Onita H. Mayer (Gladson) on Nov. 5, 1971, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 29, 1996. Mr. Hoffman owned and operated a liquor store in Pinckneyville and worked as a custodian at the Knight's of Columbus Hall in Pinckneyville.He also worked for the My-T-Fine Pudding Plant and painted.Mr. Hoffman served in the United States Navy during World War II in the South Pacific. He was a member of the St. Bruno Catholic Church in Pinckneyville, the Knight's of Columbus in Pinckneyville, and enjoyed his family and grandchildren. |

He obviously died on June 10, 2004, but apparently he ALSO died (preceding his wife) on Aug. 29, 1996. Now that's an accomplishment worth noting!!! :eek: |

when I saw the thread title (before I clicked) I really thought something happened to Carl :o
oh well, I guess I can't inherit his hair, car, and girl now :( |

The obit you all have posted was that of my grandfather. Just happened to be researching tonight as I suddenly realized this evening how much I missed him. I don't appreciate the humor. He was a wonderful, loving person. He worked hard and yes he did work at the My-T-Fine Pudding Plant for several years. All of us grandkids loved it when he was able to bring home the extra boxes of pudding. And the type-o on the obit was the fault of the newspaper. |
